Lumpias are really fun to make and a great recipe to cook for a game day or a family gathering. They are delicious and perfect to prepare with different fillings and also serve with a large variety of dipping sauces.

You will need some practice in order to get the perfect lumpia shape. Don’t worry if the first ones don’t look so good, they will still taste amazing!

Preparation time: 40 minutes
Yields
: 25 lumpias

Ingredients:

  • 25 spring roll wrappers
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 lb of ground beef
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 2 tbsp of oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Oil to fry

Method:

  1. In a large pan, over medium heat, add 2 tbsp of oil.
  2. When already hot, add your garlic and chopped onion. Stir and let it cook for a minute or two. You want the onion to be soft.
  3. Mix in the ground beef, salt and pepper. Stir occasionally until the beef is completely cooked. Set aside and let it cool down a little bit.
  4. In a flat surface, place your spring roll wrapper in a diamond shape.
  5. Add a tbsp. of the ground beef near the corner. Don’t add too much filling or your lumpias will break while frying them.
  6. Fold the spring roll wrapper really tight until half way.
  7. Fold over both sides, tight and even.
  8. Continue rolling up until you get to the corner.
  9. Brush the edges with some water, it will work as a glue to paste your lumpia.
  10. Repeat the same process with all the spring roll wrappers.
  11. In a large skillet, over medium heat, add enough oil to fry the lumpias.
  12. Fry them until golden on both sides.
  13. Serve with some sweet and sour sauce!
