How To Clean A Grill Properly

  12/22/2020

It is grilling time, which means you’re likely getting your grille primed for a feast in the garden with your loved ones. And the very first step to whipping up some of your grilling favorites is cleaning your grill. A dirty grill is a dangerous fire hazard, but you don’t have to worry as this guide will walk you through the process of cleaning your grill properly.

1. Disassemble it

You need to open the grille and remove its different parts and set them aside so you can access the main grill chamber since this is the area heavy food particles fall. If your grill has a metal diffuser, be sure to take it to put it too.

2. Clean the inside

Use a metal scraper to scrape off as much gunk as you can from the sides of the grill chamber. If you just recently used your grill, wait for the ash to cool before clearing the ash deposits.

3. Clean the burner tubes

If you’re using a gas grill, the next thing to do is to turn your attention to the burner tubes, which often gets clogged. You can tell your burner tubes needs some cleaning when the flame size reduces or when the flame burns with an orange color instead of blue color. Give the grates a good scrub with your brush.

4. Clean the grates

Reassemble the grill and fire it up to its highest setting, closing the hood to singe any stuck-on food or grease. After about 20 minutes, use your non-bristle metal grill brush to remove grime from grill grates.

5. Prevent future buildup

Keep your grill covered when not in use, and be sure to grease the grates with oil before you start cooking next time. It also helps to turn it to full temperature once a week to burn off some of the excess gunk.

Conclusion

Grime and grease can build up quickly, but following the method above can help you keep your grill clean and in good condition.
